How To Fail On Your Current Weight Loss Program

Did you know that lean muscle mass weighs more than fat but takes up less space? One of the biggest mistakes you can make when starting a weight loss program is to ignore muscle retention.

The Big Diet Mistake

All too often the diet plan of choice is to reduce calories considerably. Sometimes an exercise plan is put in place but it usually consists of cardiovascular activities only. Although this type of program will result in losing weight, most of it ends up being water and muscle rather than fat.

Sometimes a thin person will have a considerable amount of cellulite and wonder why. Well, sometimes there is a genetic factor that comes into play and there's little that can be changed. However, more often the case is a lack of muscle and tone. Through a modest amount of strength training and muscle development, most of the dimples could be smoothed.

The phenomenon of a "skinny fat person" can be explained by a measurement of body fat. Oftentimes thin people will register a low number on the scale but their body fat percentage is through the roof. Even though they might look attractive at first glance, upon closer inspection it becomes apparent that their health and fitness levels are not what they appear to be.

Do You Yo-Yo?

A similar problem is often faced by the on again, off again dieter who loses weight by following a strict regimen only to regain the pounds once the diet is over. When this cycle continues multiple times over it's referred to as yo-yo dieting. It's a harmful practice that ultimately reduces metabolism, decreases muscle mass and increases fat levels in the body. If you have found yourself in a similar position, you know how hard it is to reverse.

The Permanent Solution

While things become more difficult once this cycle has been set into motion, there is a way out. However, it requires a change in attitude and healthy diet practices that become a permanent part of your lifestyle. There are no one-hit-wonders here.

First of all, establish a healthy eating program that focuses on good nutrition. Next, commit the time to workout and incorporate both cardio and strength training exercises into the mix. Don't worry if the scale creeps up initially. If you are building some muscle it probably will. Instead, pay attention to how you feel and how your clothes fit. You should notice an increase in energy levels as well.

Most importantly, don't try to do too much at once. Go at your own pace and be sure it's a routine you can follow for life - not just the next 8 weeks. Weight Loss Program

Most weight loss programs include some insane long lasting exercises that burn your fat so that you can regain that fat later again. Others include insane weird diets where you must condition yourself to eat in a specific way, almost like a robot of this society.

Some of the programs include both of those, which in my opinion is a good idea, for as long as the program lasts, because once it finishes you gain that fat again. There are almost no programs that make you lose your fat and make it stay away. I said "almost" because there is at least one program that does all this.

Most of the programs focus on losing fat right at the moment, they almost forget that fat comes back again. They tend to focus ONLY on losing fat, forgetting how to prevent it from rebuilding. This sounds almost like you have to work forever to keep your fat away. Well, guess what, all you have to do is live your life almost like you always have.

All you have to change are a few little simple things that will change your life forever. If you live your life the exact way you always have you will get the same results you have always gotten. Would you better live with all the problems fat causes or take action and do something about it? Would you better change all your life to live like a robot and get some results or change a little your life and get much more results?

Go with slow carbs and you will stand a much better chance of losing the weight in one week.

Get lots of water. Drink at least 8 glasses of water each day. The bigger you are, the more you need so consider this when you drink your water. The water in your system will help feel fuller and also give your body what it needs as it washes away the fat.

Stand rather then sit and take the stairs rather then the elevator.

Also consider eating 4 or 5 smaller meals rather then 3 bigger ones.

Weight Loss Motivation Advice - The Hallmarks of Weight Loss Hype

Weight loss motivation advice is everywhere. You can find it one magazine covers, television commercials, talk shows, and from the people around you. Everyone has an opinion, special diet, or pill that will help you lose belly fat and get flat abs.

Unfortunately much of this is just plain marketing hype. Following the hype leads to frustration and failure. The net result of this that you lose all motivation to do what it really takes to lose weight. For this reason it becomes very important to discern the hype from sound weight loss advice.

Here are 5 hallmarks of weight loss hype:

1. You can lose weight fast. You can't lose 5-10 pounds per week. That's hype. Plan for 1-2 lbs. of body fat loss per week. Anything more than this is usually water loss and is quickly regained. Additionally, you may lose lean muscle mass. This will decrease your body's ability to burn calories while you are at rest.

2. You can lose weight without exercise. Crash diets and pills will not lead to the kind of weight loss that is healthy and permanent. It takes some exercise. Aerobic exercise helps you burn calories while exercising. It also helps raise your metabolic rate so that you burn more fat while resting. Strength training also helps your burn fat by building lean muscle mass. You have to move to lose belly fat.

3. You can lose weight and still eat whatever you want. If you're overweight you will need to change what and how you eat. Don't buy into any gimmicks that say otherwise. Changing your eating habits and establishing a sound nutrition plan is absolutely essential to losing weight and keeping it off. The diets that tell you to eat all of the pizza and ice cream you want and still lose weight are leading down the road of failure and frustration.

4. You can lose weight by taking this special supplement. This is really the epitome of marketing hype. These are rarely anything other than a mixture of vitamins and herbs. Don't waste your money.

5. You can lose weight by using this special machine. These are typically abs machines. Some of these machines have the potential to tone your abdominal muscles. However, if you don't lose belly fat those muscles will remain hidden. These machines will not help you create a sufficient calorie deficit to lose body fat. You're better off going for a 45 minute brisk walk and doing some push-ups.

Losing weight is arguably one of the hardest journeys in your life because of what is involved when starting a plan from the physical change through to the mental change. Not just a few exercises to do but a full written out minute by minute plan that not only tells you what exercises to do but how to do them properly and how long for. At the end of the day a personal trainer will get you into shape but at the same time can cost you an arm and a leg so finding a program that not only instructs on what exercises to do but how and for how long can be like having a virtual personal trainer working with you and this information can be truly vital.

Finally the secret weapon "Motivation". The misconception with weight loss programs is that a good diet plan and exercise plan is enough but the reality is that more people fail at trying to lose weight than succeed so the odds are certainly against.
