Create an Effective Weight Loss Plan - Four Steps to Success

There are many characteristics of an effective weight loss plan. One of them is that these plans should be built with practical thinking. Before you even start to create your weight loss plan you must have a vision of the end result of your weight loss efforts. In other words you must know why you want to lose weight. While it can be confusing and very overwhelming to build your own weight loss plan, take a look at these four suggestions to help you get some direction and get started with your own plan right away.

Step 1

As mentioned in the last paragraph, you need a vision as to what the pay off for your weight loss efforts will be. So ask yourself why you want to lose weight. Many people have many different reasons to lose weight. What are your reasons to lose weight? Do you want to lose weight to fit into normal clothes again? Maybe you don't want to be the "fat parent of the town" any more. Or maybe you just want to look good and feel good about yourself. What ever the reason, write it down. Once you have the end result in mind then you can go to the next step.

Step 2

The next step is to define the goal you want to accomplish. The goal should be realistic but you should work for it so you can keep focusing on making an effort. For example, losing 2 lbs in 1 month is way too easy. However, if you want to lose 10 lbs in the next month, that is a good goal where you will need to work for it throughout the month. Plus at the same time the goal is obtainable. Another good goal to have is to eat clean for 6 days during the next week.

Step 3

Now that you have a goal defined, you need to create a plan to reach your goal. First off, your plan needs to be a workable plan that you can stick with. For example, planning to go to the gym twice a day when you work 10 hours a day is not doable. However, you make be able to get to the gym 3 times the following week. Here are some suggestions to help you with your plan.

Eat smaller portions of food. While easier said than done, it's very possible. If you eat every three hours, it will be much easier and you'll be less hungry. So you plan to eat 5 small meals, every 3 hours for 6 days this week.

Eat healthier foods. The best approach is to cut out the fast foods, eat foods with no sugar and cut out the fast foods. Make sure you eat healthy foods that you like or it will be a very tough rule to follow. So your plan should include a menu for each day of the week.

Start exercising. Exercising helps compliment your diet by burning extra calories by building muscle. The best way to build muscle is through weight training. Try making it a habit to work out 2-3 times a week. As a reminder, make sure you can schedule these workouts so you can stick to these workouts. If you need to really simplify things at first, find a way to start walking every day.

Step 4

The last step of an effective weight loss plan is to start executing the plan. Now that you have created your own plan, its now time to start moving with it.

Creating an effective weight loss plan doesn't have to be that challenging but it can be over whelming if you're not sure of the steps needed to put a plan together. Using the four steps discussed above will help you create an effective weight loss plan every week.

The first rule as believed by those who are beginners in the field of fitness, is to leave the food you love the most. Well for most not so slim people, its food like processed cheese, pizza, chicken, beef etc. Its not easy to leave what you love. Yet its easier to balance the things you love along with what is nutritious. When a nutrition schedule is drawn for you, make sure you know what is in and what is out. If its meat and eggs all week long, its way too much fat! If its too much sparrow food, then its worse. Weight loss requires a smarter plan than that.

A person needs something way too desperately then he has to sacrifice the food he loves to eat. If he is strong willed then it is a piece of cake for him to let go of his cravings. Some can eat anything and everything they want and still look lean, while others are just not that lucky. Depending on your body structure and metabolism, you have to decide which meal and what exercise is essential for you.

Unfortunately for over weight people, no matter how much they try losing weight it seems like they are pushing the Himalayas. Scary but true! Its wise not to even mirror them. Its not worth a call! You set some standards for yourself. Give either a 100 percent or even lesser, but make sure whatever you do, you stick to your word, i.e. to lose as much weight as possible. Each week, is a new week and surely a brighter one.

You need regular fitness and not a body like Hitman, then its better to have an average percentage of what is known as compliance. Compliance in layman's term means fulfillment, observance, conformity etc. Compliance in fitness means what you should adhere to and what you should avoid.

There is a theory which was suggested by one of the fitness gurus. He said, "If you eat 5 small means a day, you eat about 35 meals a week. Around 32 meals are adhered to." This in turn means that you can have 3 or maximum 4 such parties or occasions which you can make merry in.

You can be in any one of the following scenarios, a) someone who wants to lose a few inches on the waistline and look decent, or b) someone who wants a perfect 36-24-36 kind of a figure. If its scenario A then having a compliance of 100% is sheer madness. On the other hand if you wish to be scenario B then you better slog night and day. Forget you ever loved mommy's cheese cake or thanksgivings turkey. You have to keep in mind that every time you sneak and have a small piece of cake from the fridge, you not only deceive yourself but lose the chances of losing calories.

On a more serious note, eat and eat to your heart's content. It could be a chocolate brownie or just an ice cream. Just remember to count the calories, but they hatch up to your muscles, thighs and tummy.

The weight loss and exercise market is flooded with new products, diet, programs and drugs each month. But one thing that keeps showing up over and over again is walking to lose weight.

2. Eat more veggies and fruits : Here's a tip that You should follow. Put more veggies/fruits on your plate whenever you are about to eat. This way your plate will be full from good type of foods.

3. Eat more protein : Start eating more protein than you are getting. Include couple of protein shakes and bars in daily routine (provided you are eating clean food, no oily crispy mess)

4. Use common sense : its worth saying twice. If you think the kind of food you are eating will make you fat. Then don't Eat.

Exercise Routines for beginners.

According to experts, We normally walk about 5,000 - 6,000 steps/day (which I really wonder if its true). But lets assume that we walk 5000 steps per day. so if you add 3,000 to 4,000 steps to that, you're at 10,000 steps a day.

This kind of level of activity can help prevent weight gain, lower "bad" cholesterol and reduce the risk of developing high blood pressure.

Most people who are walking fewer than 5,000 steps a day and are gaining weight/losing muscle. Don't forget as you age, you lose muscles and slow down your metabolism. No matter what kind of metabolism you had when you were younger.. if you are overweight now... Now you know why...

According to a Duke University study participants lost weight, decreased waist sizes and increased lean body mass by walking at least 30 minutes a day.

The best way to exercise to lose weight is to walk in interval walking. Fast walking mixed with slow walking. You should Keep challenging yourself to walk faster and further as your body gets used to the exercise.

When you exercise intensely you increase your metabolism and burn extra calories several hours after exercising.

Here's a plan for walking that might suit your needs. Remember you should check with your doctor and listen to how you body respond.

Week 1 : 40 minutes of fast Walking for 4 days... and 1 hour of leisure walking on other days...

Week 2 : 40 minutes of fast walking for 5 days and 1 hr of leisure walking on other days

Week 3 : 50 minutes of fast walking for 5 days and 1 hr of leisure walking on other days.

Week 4 : 1 hr of fast walking on 5 days and 1 hr of leisure walking on other days.

Walking is suitable for everyone, whether you work 9-5 days or retired, there is no reason not to get out on foot and enjoy fresh air and exercise.
